Three arrested after Newcastle school burglary

Three men are in custody after a burglary at a school in Newcastle.

At 5:02am this morning (Thur Jan 21) police received a report that burglars had broken into a school in Condercum Road.

A quick response from 24/7 officers and the dog unit led to two men being arrested near to the premises.

After some excellent work from a dog handler and Police Dog 'Mickey' a third man was located nearby in Heyburn Gardens and also arrested.

Newcastle 24/7 Inspector Richie Ghani said: "This is another example of the fantastic work of our officers and police dogs, who work around the clock 24/7 to protect the residents of Newcastle. All three men are currently being spoken to by officers in custody and enquiries are ongoing into the incident."

Enquiries are continuing into the burglary and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 121 21/01/16.
