Police are appealing for information after a report of an indecent exposure offence in Fawdon.

At 3:20pm on Wednesday, January 13, police received a report that a man had been seen acting suspiciously and possibly masturbating in bushes on Dorrington Road.

Officers attended and carried out a search of the area however the man was not found.

The man was described as being black, in his mid to late 20s, of medium / stocky build and around 6ft tall. He has short black hair and a small black goatee beard.  He was wearing a grey fleece jacket, blue jeans and grey coloured hi-top style trainers.

Enquiries carried out suggested that a number of local people had seen the same man in the area previously, and in September, 2015, police received a similar report from the same location and officers believe it could be the same man responsible for both offences.

Neighbourhood Inspector Julie Rana aid: "This man's behaviour is completely unacceptable and I'd appeal for anyone who knows anything about this incident, or anyone who might know who he is to contact us with any information as soon as possible.

"We are carrying out checks in the local area, speaking to local residents and since the report have had extra officers carrying out patrols to try and arrest this man.

"I'd urge anyone who sees someone matching the description in the Fawdon area to ring us and let us know as soon as possible."

Enquiries are ongoing to try and trace the man and if anyone thinks they may know who this is, or has any information that might help with the investigation, they are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 651 13/01/16.
