Police in Hexham host second open evening to reunite recovered items with their rightful owners.

From 6pm to 8pm tonight, (Thursday, January 28) officers will be hosting a second open evening at Hexham Station and encourage residents in the Tynedale area who have been a victim of burglary over the past few years to attend.

Hexham Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said: "The first open evening took place at Hexham Station on Tuesday night and was very well attended by residents.

"An Aladdins cave of recovered items were on display and three residents positively identified property which had been stolen from them in burglaries.

"We believe the goods recovered date back to burglaries committed from early 2014 onwards and we encourage anyone who has been a victim of burglary to come along tonight to view the items.

"We want to reassure people that we are doing everything we can to target burglars and thieves in the area and make Tynedale a hostile environment for offenders to operate in.

"Officers and cadets will be on hand tonight to speak with people, offer reassurance and answer any questions they may have."

Residents are invited to attend Hexham Station tonight from 6pm to view the recovered items and speak with police.
