Man assaulted in Ashington

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Ashington.

It happened between 2am and 2.30am on Saturday, November 28, when a 45-year-old man was approached by a man in Station Road before being assaulted.

The man suffered serious facial injuries which required reconstructive surgery.

The offender is described as a white man who is believed to have been wearing a dark coloured top.

Enquiries into the assault are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact police.
