Police are appealing for information after a 39-year-old man was assaulted in Sunderland.

The incident happened between 2am and 4am on Wednesday January 27 in Carley Road in Sunderland. The man was approached by another man who assaulted him. After being assaulted the 39-year-old man made his way to an address in Tatham Street when police were called.

He suffered a laceration to his nose, believed to have been caused by a sharp instrument. He also had an injury on his hand. He received hospital treatment for his injuries.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and appealing for any witnesses.
