Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision involving a car and a cyclist in Ashington.

It happened at 1pm on Tuesday, February 9, when a Peugeot 307 collided with a cyclist in Fourth Avenue. The cyclist fell from the bike and the car made off.

The cyclist, a 25-year-old man, is not believed to have suffered serious injuries.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Enquiries into the collision are ongoing and officers are appealing for witnesses to contact police.
