Police searching for missing Newcastle woman Margaret MacDermott are continuing their enquiries to locate her.

Margaret, who is 50, and from Bolbec Road in Fenham was last seen around 11pm on Friday evening (February 12) at her home address.

She was reported missing to police on Saturday afternoon (February 13) after her family had not heard from her and became concerned for her welfare.

A missing persons investigation was immediately launched and enquiries carried out to locate her.

These enquiries lead officers to believe that she left her home address sometime before 5am on Saturday (February 13) and drove to Newcastle Quayside.

CCTV footage from the Quayside area shows her vehicle, a light blue Renault Captur, parking in the disabled parking spaces in Broad Chare in front of the Eye on the Tyne Pub at 4.59am.

Officers believe Margaret got out of her car, crossed the road and walked along the river towards the Millennium Bridge where she stopped and paused.

From this point there is no further CCTV footage of her.

Our enquiries are continuing and officers are checking all premises in the areas around the Quayside for any further CCTV footage and to see if anyone who lives or works in the area may have seen Margaret on Saturday morning.

Central Area Command Chief Inspector Alison Best said: "We are continuing with our enquiries to locate Margaret and our attention is focused on the Quayside area of Newcastle around the Millennium Bridge.

"Unfortunately the CCTV footage that we have so far is inconclusive but we think that she has parked her car in front of the Eye on the Tyne Pub at just before 5am, crossed the road and then walked down the Quayside towards the Millennium Bridge. We then think she spent some time standing next to the bridge before we lose sight of her.

"We can not discount the possibility that Margaret may have entered the river and we have teams of officers pursuing all lines of enquiry.

"We are appealing to the public for their help. If anyone was in the area of the Quayside near to where Margaret parked her car or the Millennium Bridge, at around 5am on Saturday morning (February 13) then I'd ask they contact us. People may have been starting work, been out walking or running, driving through the area or returning from a night out and they may have seen Margaret there.

"I'd urge anyone who thinks they may have any information to contact us straight away."

Anyone who lives in the Quayside area and who has any private CCTV cameras that are pointed towards the Millennium Bridge and the nearby area is asked to ring us on 101 as it may help with police enquiries.

Anyone who has seen Margaret, or has any information about where she may be, is asked to contact police on 101.
