Police are appealing for information after two burglaries in Heaton.

Between 2pm and 4pm on Monday, February 15, a house was burgled in Cardigan Terrace. The offenders got into the property through a second floor window and climbed onto the roof of the property to get inside.

Then between 1.30pm and 8pm, the same day, a burglar got into a shared student house in Meldon Terrace and stole a Mac Book computer. It's thought the intruder may have got in through an unlocked door.

Neighbourhood Inspector Neil Brotherton said: "I'd appeal for anyone who was in either of these areas yesterday and who saw anything suspicious to contact us with any information.

"We have extra patrols in these areas as part of a burglary operation that we are currently running but we really need people to lock their doors and windows when leaving the house.

"Make sure your home and your property is protected and you're doing all you can to help keep thieves out.

"Please report any suspicious people you see hanging around neighbourhoods on the 101 number and we will come and check it out."

Enquiries are ongoing into the two burglaries and if anyone saw anything, or anyone, suspicious in the areas around the time of the burglaries they are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 794 15/02/16.
