Appeal after man falls in Newcastle

This is an update in relation to the man who fell in Perdu, Collingwood Street, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The man has sadly passed away and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

Police are not in a position to name the man.

Anyone with information to help is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 169 20/02/16

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man fell in Newcastle city centre.

Police were contacted at 2.34am this morning, (Saturday, February 20), by the ambulance service reporting a man had fallen in Perdu, Collingwood Street.

Emergency services attended and a 40-year-old man was taken to hospital after sustaining head injuries. He is described as being in a critical condition.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them - in particular two men who helped the man shortly after he fell.

The two men, or anyone with information to help is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 169 20/02/16.
