Sunderland shooting and associated criminal activity - investigation continues

A third man has been charged as part of an on-going investigation into a feud between two groups in Sunderland and associated criminal activity.

So far, 19 people have been arrested - three of those have now been charged.

An investigation was launched on Monday (February 29) after a window was shot at at an address in Edgmond Court in Hollycarrside.

Since then, police have been pursuing all of those suspected of being involved - whether directly or part of a wider criminal network.

Over the past few days a business premises and eight houses have been searched in Sunderland.

Enquiries have also led to police activity in Newcastle with houses searched and arrests on Tyneside.

Police warn activity will continue throughout the weekend.

T/Supt Sarah Pitt said: "Our pursuit of those suspected of being involved is relentless and there will be activity continuing over the weekend. We expect there will be more arrests and further disruption activity across the city.

"Patrols will continue throughout the weekend and I would urge anyone who is concerned to speak to an officer on patrol - they are there for our communities, to offer reassurance and answer their concerns."
