Three men charged with attempt burglary

Three men have been charged with attempt burglary.

On Sunday, March 6, police responded to a report of a possible burglary at Park Lane Cards in Newbottle Street in Houghton.

Officers from Houghton Neighbourhood Policing Team supported by Operations Department officers responded and three men were arrested.

Carl Thexton, 37 of Park Road in Bishop Auckland, Andrew Smith, 42, of Kirklea Road in Houghton and Anthony Thompson, 30, of Wear Street in Fencehouses have been charged with joint attempt burglary other than dwelling.

The three men appeared at Sunderland Magistrates' Court this morning.

Operation Impact is currently running throughout Sunderland and South Tyneside to tackle burglaries across the boroughs.
