Man assaulted in Sunderland

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Sunderland.

At around 9.15am on Sunday, March 13, officers received a report of an assault at Grindon Gardens, Grindon.

Officers attended the scene where a man was being treated for a head injury.

He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life threatening.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.

There has been an increased police presence in the area with extra officers on patrol to provide reassurance.
