Neighbourhood officers in Birtley are reminding residents they can speak to an officer at one of their regular surgeries.

Officers from Gateshead South Neighbourhood Policing Team use the Birtley Hub premises at 16 Harraton Terrace in the town to meet residents and discuss any local issues.

Neighbourhood Inspector Michael Robson said: "The Birtley Hub is a great location which is regularly used by officers and helps them to be more accessible to local residents. We hold regular surgeries in a room in the hub and residents can also call in and leave a message with staff for our officers to get in contact, if they prefer.

"We've had some good feedback from residents who are pleased to see their local officers in locations close to where they live and work.

"It's also a good way for residents to find out what the neighbourhood team has been doing to tackle local issues. We're also happy to give people crime prevention advice and if you have any policing concerns you can speak to an officer face to face."

Police surgeries at the Birtley Hub are held monthly, the next one is on Tuesday, April 26 from 2pm to 4pm.
