Man assaulted in Byker

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Byker.

At 7:40pm on Monday, March 14, we received a report of a man in Raby Way with injuries.

Police and paramedics attended and a 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious facial and head injuries.

The man remains in hospital in a stable condition and police are carrying out enquiries to establish what happened to the man.

Officers believe that, from his injuries, he may have been attacked by one, or a number of people, and that it may have happened in Raby Street around 7:40pm.

House to house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out but anyone who saw anything or who has any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 986 14/03/16.
