Robbery at city centre betting shop

Police are appealing for information following a robbery at a betting shop in Newcastle city centre.

At 9:23pm on Monday, March 21, a man entered the Ladbrokes store in Clayton Street, near to the O2 academy, and approached the front counter demanding money.

The staff refused and the man managed to grab a small amount of money from one of the tills before fleeing.

The man is described as being white, of medium / stocky build, around 5ft 5 to 5ft 6ins tall and was wearing a yellow and grey/cream hooped polo top and dark track pants.

Enquiries are ongoing into the robbery and anyone who was around the Clayton Street area around the time of the robbery and who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1281 21/03/16.
