Police in Morpeth are inviting local kids to come and take part in a football tournament.

Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team have organised the Easter Shield five-a-side competition. The tournament is for kids aged between 12 to 14 years-old and will be held at the Morpeth Riverside Leisure Centre on Monday, April 4, 11.45am - 4pm.

The tournament has been organised by police in Morpeth and there will be trophies for the winners and runners up.

There will also be a trophy for the player of the Tournament and all youngsters taking part will receive a Medal.

Neighbourhood Inspector, Richie Anderson, from the Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We love organising events like this and the whole day is a great opportunity for us to engage with the kids and give them an opportunity to see their local police officers in a different light.

"We get great support from the council, Morpeth Leisure Centre and other local businesses who have provided refreshments.

"We encourage people to come along and look forward to meeting everyone on the day."

Entrance to the event is free and sign up sheets for the football tournament are available at the leisure centre.
