Appeal after fatal collision in Northumberland

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died following a collision in Northumberland.
At around 4.50pm on Friday, April 1, police were called to a collision between a white Kia Optima and a HGV on the A697 between Longramlington and Longhorsely.
Emergency services attended and the 40-year-old driver of the Kia was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger was taken to hospital by air ambulance but his injuries are not believed to be lfie threatening.
The A697 was closed for four hours to allow officers to investigate the incident and recover the vehicles involved.
Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision, which took place on the southbound carriageway 300 metres south of the C135 road to Todburn, to get in touch.
