Man arrested after Winlaton arson

Police are appealing for information after an arson to a house in Winlaton.

At 10:14pm on Sunday, April 3, someone set fire to the front door of a property in Lime Street.

The fire brigade were called and extinguished the fire before it could cause extensive damage. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

Enquiries were immediately launched by officers and witnesses reported seeing a man running down Lime Street, away from the address, and towards Shibdon Bank around the time of the fire.

He was described as wearing a blue hooded jacket with the hood up and light grey tracksuit trousers.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
