Woman raped in Sunderland

Police investigating a rape in Sunderland have spoken to two males in connection with the incident

Early this morning a woman was raped in Sunderland after getting into a car in Derwent Street. She believed the vehicle was a taxi.

Both males, aged 18, attended a police station as voluntary attenders earlier this evening.

Enquiries are on-going and police are continuing to appeal for information.

Extra officers will continue to carry out regular patrols in the area to offer reassurance to the local community and anyone concerned can speak to an officer.
