Police are appealing for witnesses after an incident involving a cyclist and a pedestrian in Newcastle city centre.

Around 6pm on Thursday, April 7, a woman was cycling down Newgate Street and onto Grainger Street, from the direction of the Gate, when she almost collided with a man who was crossing the road.

The man stopped the woman, grabbed hold of her and made aggressive comments to her. This left the woman shocked and frightened.

The man is described as being white, in his 40s to 50s and of proportionate build. He had a full head of white coloured hair and was wearing a bright neon orange hooded top.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information that might help police, is asked to ring 101 quoting reference number 902 07/04/16.
