Man's face slashed in Cowgate

Police are appealing for information after a man's face was slashed in the Cowgate area of Newcastle.

At 9.32pm on Friday, April 8, police received a report that a man had been stabbed in the face and had gone into the Aldi store in Ponteland Road asking for help.

Police and ambulance attended and the man was taken to the RVI hospital where he received treatment to a five inch cut between his ear and his chin.

The victim refused to tell police where the attack happened however officers found traces of blood leading from Aldi to the junction of Eastern Way with Ponteland Road.

Police believe the attack happened in this area and are appealing for anyone who was in the area around 9:15pm / 9:30pm on that Friday night to contact them.

Anyone who witnessed anything is asked to ring police on 101 quoting reference number 1185 08/04/16.
