Man charged with city centre burglary offences

A Newcastle man has been charged with seven burglary offences in the city centre.

William Frederick Armstrong, 41 and from Byker Bridge House in Newcastle, has been charged with burglary with intent, six counts of attempt burglary and one count of possessing a controlled drug (class c).

The charges are in relation to a number of attempted burglaries to shops in Newcastle city centre on April 4 including Cath Kidston, Starbucks, Space NK, Jones the Bootmakers, JG Windows, Moda in Pelle and the Central Exchange building.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on April 21.
