Appeal after incidents in Dunston

Police are appealing for information after two incidents in the Dunston area in the early hours of this morning.

At 3:59am on Wednesday, April 20, we received a report that a burglar had been disturbed inside an address in Glebe Terrace.

He fled the address empty handed and officers attended and carried out a search of Glebe Terrace and the nearby Staiths estate.

Around the same time a Nissan Quashqai was stopped by officers in Ropery Road and a number of men fled into the nearby housing estates.

Officers, assisted by the police helicopter, carried out a search of the area however were unable to locate the men.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incidents and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 103 20/04/16.
