Three arrested following shoplifting

Officers on routine patrol in Alnwick on Wednesday afternoon, April 20, were called to the town's Iceland store on Bondgate Within following reports of theft.

Staff reported the theft of washing powder and a separate offence of two bottles of alcohol.

Police went to the store and found a trail of washing powder leading away from the shop which they followed.

Officers arrested three men and recovered suspected stolen property.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with theft,  a 32-year-old man has been charged with three counts of shoplifting and one of possessing drugs. Both are due to appear before Northumberland Magistrates Court on May 5.

A third man aged 21 has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
