Police issue warning after potentially harmful medication was stolen during a burglary in Low Fell.

Between Thursday, April 21, and Saturday, April 23, burglars broke into a flat in Ripley Court.

They stole a number of different medications that were being kept inside the property including Venlafaxine and Valporic Acid.

Officers have checked with medical professionals and the medication can be a danger to health if taken in large amounts.

Gateshead Sergeant Tim McIntyre said: "Anyone with any information into the burglary or the whereabouts of the stolen medication is asked to contact us straight away. The drugs that were stolen have the potential to be dangerous and would urge anyone who knows where they are to hand them into a police station or contact us so we can get them recovered. Do not take any medication that isn't prescribed to you as it could cause serious harm."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police in Gateshead on 101 quoting reference number 554 23/04/16.
