Police are warning motorists living in Lemington to lock their cars following a number of thefts.

Overnight between Saturday, April 23, and Sunday April 24, thieves targeted four cars in the Rokeby Street, Tynevale Terrace, Hartside and Wooler Green areas.

The cars had been left unlocked and items including a Garmin satnav, a bag of football equipment and stereo equipment including a Rockford subwoofer, Sony CD player and JVC amplifier were stolen.

Enquiries are ongoing into the thefts and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 293 24/04/16.

Officers believe the cars that were broken into were targeted because they had been left unlocked and with valuables inside.
