Appeal to locate good Samaritan

Police would like to identify and thank a good samaritan who helped two lost children get home safely in Newcastle.

Around 6pm on Sunday, May 15, police received a report that a family who had been visiting Newcastle had become separated in the crowds around St James' Park.

They were walking near to the ground when a woman became split up from her 12-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son in the thousands of supporters who were leaving the ground.

Despite not knowing the area the children managed to make their way to the RVI hospital where they were helped by a member of the public.

The person gave them money and arranged for a taxi to take them back to a relative's house in Newcastle.

They got there safely and were reunited with their mum.

Police would like to identify this person from the RVI so they can be thanked for their kind actions and assistance.

This person, or anyone with any information that might help police identify them, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 894 15/05/16.
