Police are trying to re-unite a teenage girl with her lost hooded top.

On Tuesday, April 26, a teenage girl bought a grey Nike hooded jacket from JD Sports in Northumberland Street.

She unfortunately lost the new jacket while shopping in Newcastle and her parents contacted JD Sports to see if it had been handed in, but it hadn't.

The next day a woman went into the store with the jacket and tried to exchange it for cash however the staff member became suspicious and after carrying out checks found out the jacket was the one that had been reported lost.

The staff member challenged the woman about it and she then fled the shop. Police believe the woman had found the jacket and tried to fraudulently receive a refund for it.

The shop didn't keep the parents or the teenage girl's details and so haven't been able to contact them and let them know her jacket is at the store ready to be collected.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and police are appealing for anyone with any information that might help to contact them on 101 quoting reference number 424 27/04/16.
