Woman robbed in Dunston

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Dunston

At 3:05pm on Monday, May 16, a 35-year-old woman was walking along the cycle path to the rear of the Aldi store in Ellison Road when she was approached from behind by a male.

He snatched a bag she was carrying and although the woman put up a struggle he stole and made off with it.

The offender, who is thought to be around 16, was on foot and in company with two other youths around the same age. One was on a bike and the other two on foot and all were wearing dark clothing.

They fled the scene in the direction of the bridge near to the Staiths estate.

The woman wasn't hurt during the incident but was left shaken and upset.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with any information into the incident is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 683 16/05/15.
