Crime prevention event to stop bank fraudsters

Northumbria Police is hosting a community event in Morpeth to help people protect themselves against fraudsters.

Staff from Northumbria Police's Crime Prevention Team will be at the Barclays branch on Bridge Street in Morpeth on Tuesday, May 31, between 10am and 12noon, to offer tips about staying safe online.

Officers will also be available to answer questions from members of the public and give advice on issues including banking fraud and scams, spotting fake emails, buying safely online, rogue traders and postal fraud.

They will also discuss doorstep crime prevention including courier fraud, distraction burglary and cold calling.
