41-year-old man assaulted

Police are appealing for information after a 41-year-old man was assaulted in Sunderland.

The incident happened at around 4.36am on Sunday May 22, in Derwent Street. A man approached the 41-year-old and attacked him causing him to fall to the ground. He suffered a broken jaw and is recieving hospital treatment for his injuries.

The offender is described as an asian male, early thirties, slim build and approximately 5ft 6 inches tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt with a black and white shirt over the top and blue jeans.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the incident and are asking witnesses to get in contact.
