43-year-old man assaulted in South Shields

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 43-year-old man was assaulted in South Tyneside.

The assault happened at around 4.30pm on Saturday, May 28, at the junction of Stanhope Road and Alnwick Road in South Shields. The 43-year-old suffered a slash wound to his face. He received hospital treatment for his injuries.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and has been released on police bail.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the assault and are appealing for witnesses.
