Charity collection box stolen

Police are appealing for witnesses following the theft of a charity box in North Tyneside.

It happened on Friday, May 27, at around 11.40am at Learning Disability North East, on Park Road in Wallsend.  A man entered the main foyer claiming to be interested in learning about the charity. He distracted staff and then grabbed the charity collection box and made off, stealing an amount of cash.

The offender is described as a white man, aged 40s - 50s,  5 feet 8" tall, slim build, with fair shaven hair and a local accent.  He was wearing an old style England top, and royal blue coloured bottoms.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and anyone who may recognise the man from the description, or anyone with information is asked to contact police.
