Police are continuing to appeal for help to locate a missing Gateshead man who could be in the Manchester or Rotherham areas.

Robert Norton, who is 56, and from Woodbine Street in Gateshead, has not been seen or heard from for almost a month.

He was last seen at an address in the Maltby area of Rotherham on the morning of Saturday, May 7, after travelling there from his home.

He left the address, telling a family member he was going to walk to his sister's house in Oldham, Greater Manchester.

However, Robert never arrived at the address and both his family and police are growing increasingly concerned for his welfare.

His disappearance has been described as out of character and police are appealing for him, or anyone who has seen Robert in the last month, to get in touch.

Robert is described as white, around 5ft1in tall, of slim build and with short brown hair. He was last seen wearing dark jeans, a navy polo top and a jacket.

If you know of Robert's whereabouts, or have spoken to him since he was last seen, then call police on 101 quoting reference 1009 120516.
