Aggravated burglary in Newcastle

Police are appealing for information after an aggravated burglary in Newcastle.

The burglary happened between 3am and 4am this morning at Bond Court in Newcastle. Two men forced their way into the property armed with a hammer and metal bar and assaulted three men aged 21 and two 18 who were in the property. Two of the victims required hospital treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The offenders made of with mobile phones, wallets and electrical items - including a TV, a tablet, DVD player and DVDs.

One of the offenders is described as male, 5ft 10 inches tall, medium build. The second offender is described as male, 5ft 7 inches tall, skinny build. Both were wearing dark clothing and balalavas.

Detective Inspector Darren Adams said: "This was clearly a distressing incident for the young men who were in the house at the time, two of who have had to receive hospital treatment, and it is important we find those responsible. If anyone has any information we would ask they get in contact with us as it may lead us to the offenders."

Officers have been in the area to carry out enquiries into the incident and speak with local residents.
