CCTV appeal after collision in Newcastle

Police investigating a collision in Newcastle are releasing CCTV images in an appeal for witnesses.
Around 7:36am on Friday, May 20, a purple Ford Fiesta and a white Skoda Octavia collided on the City Road near to the Toffee Factory and Hotel Du Vin.
The Fiesta had just left the Travelodge on City Road and was driving eastbound while the Skoda was travelling west.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered minor injuries in the collision however a 20-month-old baby who was a passenger in the Skoda Octavia was seriously injured.
The little girl was taken to the RVI where she was treated for serious spinal injuries. She remains in a stable condition but with life changing injuries.
A section of City Road was closed for around an hour for collision investigation to take place.
Enquiries remain ongoing into the collision and Motor Patrols officers are releasing CCTV images of three potential witnesses who were in the area at the time it happened and may be able to help with the investigation.
The images show a green and white lorry and a grey and blue Suzuki 4x4 driving in the area just after the collision happened. They also show a woman pedestrian walking past the scene of the collision.
Officers are urging these people to come forward and contact police.
Police also believe that two people stopped to help those in the collision but left before police could speak to them. They are also asked to get in touch.
Finally, anyone who saw the purple Fiesta leaving the Travelodge and being driven along City Road prior to the collision is asked to contact police.
