Post office robbery in Gateshead

Police are appealing for information after a robbery at a Post Office in Gateshead.

Between 5:10pm and 5:20pm on Thursday, June 9, a man entered the Post Office in Chilside Road in High Felling armed with a knife.

He threatened the staff member behind the counter and demanded money before grabbing a number of packets of cigarettes and fleeing the shop.

No one was hurt during the incident however the staff member was left shaken by what happened.

The offender is described as being white, around 6ft tall and was wearing a dark hooded top and a bandana over his face.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 885 09/06/16.
