A man has been jailed for seven years for a series of offences in North Tyneside.

Bradley Fawcett, aged 30 of no fixed address was sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday, June 6.  He pleaded guilty to five offences all carried out when he was armed with a knife.

The crimes took place between September 8 and 24, in 2015. They included an attempted knifepoint robbery, at Hyare News on Park Road in Wallsend on September 21, and four counts of theft from the person.

Detective Sergeant Jill Hall, of Northern Area Command, said: "Fawcett is undoubtedly a dangerous man who readily uses a knife to threaten his victims.  We are satisfied with the sentence handed down by the court.  By taking this man off our streets it will make North Tyneside a safer place."
