Police are appealing for information after a high value theft from a building site in Newcastle.

Between 5pm Wednesday, June 15, and 7am Thursday, June 16, thieves broke into the Persimmon homes building compound at Esh Plaza in Gosforth.

They stole around £15,000 worth of building materials from the site including 16 door canopies, 4 Zanussi dishwashers, 20 shower screens, 2 Zanussi washing machines and a number of ovens, fans, hobs and kitchen materials.

Enquiries are ongoing into the theft and officers are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

Due to the large number of items stolen the thieves have used a van or large vehicle and officers want to hear from anyone who has seen any suspicious people or vehicles in the area overnight.

Anyone offered any of the stolen items for sale is also asked to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to ring 101 quoting reference number 147 16/06/16.
