Police in Newcastle are appealing for information after a number of sheds were broken into in Westerhope.

Between 4:15am and 4:30am on Thursday, July 7, two thieves got into a number of sheds in Beaumont Terrace.

They stole two bikes, worth around £500 each, before making off.

The two males, who were both wearing tracksuits, were seen checking sheds, garages and outhouses in the area shortly before the burglaries took place.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incidents and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 136 07/07/16.

Residents are being asked to check their shed security in the run up to summer. Make sure sheds are locked overnight and secure and that any locks, bolts and security devices are fit for purpose - especially if storing expensive bikes and equipment inside.

Officers are also encouraging people to report anyone seen hanging around homes, sheds and neighbourhoods late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
