14-year-old injured in collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 14-year-old girl was injured after she was knocked over in Sunderland.

The incident happened at around 7.40pm on Saturday, July 9, on Borough Road outside Riverview Health Centre in the city centre.

The 14-year-old received hospital treatment for her injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the vehicle - thought to be a black 4x4 style vehicle - drove off after hitting the girl and did not stop at the scene.

Officers are carrying out enquiries and appealing for witnesses to trace the driver.
