Child assaulted in Byker

Police are appealing for information after a child was assaulted in Byker.

Between 6:30pm and 7:30pm on Tuesday, July 12, a 12-year-old boy was walking in Conyers Road, near to Byker Metro station, when he was stopped and grabbed by a man.

The man asked him if he wanted to buy any drugs before letting go of the boy and walking off.

The incident left the boy feeling extremely shaken and upset.

The man is described as being white, in his early 20s, with blonde hair. He is around 5ft 6ins tall and of skinny build and spoke with a London accent. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a black jacket.
