Man assaulted in Benwell

Police are appealing for information after an assault in Benwell, Newcastle.

Around 10:30pm on Saturday, July 16, an 18-year-old man was walking in a rear alley in Strathmore Crescent when he was approached and assaulted by two men.

They punched and kicked the man and he suffered serious injuries including a broken eye socket, broken nose and cuts to his head.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Officers have descriptions of the two men and are appealing for anyone who recognises them to get in touch.

Male 1 - White, around 5ft 7ins tall, of muscular build and in his late 20s. He had short fair hair which was short at the back and sides. He was wearing a light coloured t-shirt and light coloured denim jeans.

Male 2 - White, around 5ft 9ins tall, of chubby build and in his 30s. He had short dark hair with grey stubble and was wearing a navy blue t-shirt, with white writing on in the shape of an arc, and trousers. He had a tattoo down his right forearm.

Enquiries are ongoing into the attack and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1367 160716.
