Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Newcastle

Police were called to an incident in Grainger Street, Newcastle at 7.17pm, Tuesday, July 26, following reports of an injured man.

Officers attended and found a man in the street outside the Mile Castle pub had been stabbed and suffered a leg injury.  He has been taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment.

Police are investigating

and are appealing for witnesses anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police.
