Police are appealing for information after a primary school was burgled in Houghton.

The burglary happened between 4pm on Friday, July 22 and 7.30am on Monday, July 25 at Shiney Row Primary School in South View. The burglars used a stainless steel trolley from the school to steal IT equipment.

Some of the items taken include:- 17 BENQ 3000 lumen projectors, valued at £1000 each; a Panasonic sound system; a Panasonic mixing system and a Panasonic monitor.

It's thought the offenders left the school via the fields at the back of South View in Shiney Row.

Acting Neighbourhood Sergeant Phil Dixon, whose team covers Shiney Row, said: "We're carrying out enquiries to identify the offenders responsible for this burglary but we are also keen to locate the stolen items - if they're not recovered children at the school will suffer when they go back after the summer holidays as they will not be able to use them.

"If anyone is offered similar items for sale then we want to hear from them, in particular we would ask second hand dealers to make sure the origin of the items they are trading is genuine."

Any witnesses to the burglary should contact Northumbria Police on 101 quoting reference 196 250716 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
