Man arrested after Gosforth flat fire

Police have arrested a man in connection with a flat fire in Newcastle.

At 6:54pm on Sunday, July 31, police received a report of ground floor flat on fire in Newlands Road in Gosforth.

Fire services attended and extinguished the fire. No one was injured however the flat suffered severe smoke damage.

Enquiries were carried out into the incident and police officers arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of attempt arson with intent to endanger life. He is currently in custody.
