Stones thrown at cars in Gateshead

Police are appealing for information after stones were thrown from a bridge in Gateshead.

Around 1:20am on Tuesday, July 26, stones were dropped from a flyover bridge on Durham Road onto a car that was driving past, near to the Angel of the North.

The stones caused the windscreen of the car to smash. Luckily the driver was not injured and was able to safely get the vehicle home.

Two males in white hooded tops were seen on the flyover at the time of the incident and they ran off towards the Allerdene estate.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 50 26/07/16.
