Hetton Neighbourhood Policing Team were proud to get involved in the second Dragon Boat Race at Hetton Lyons Country Park recently.

The event, organised by North East Rotary gives crews the chance to race in Chinese-style Dragon Boats over a 250-metre course, with a wide range of entertainment for both children and adults it offers a great fun day out for all the family.

And, while they didn't take part in the race, local Police Community Support Officers from Hetton Neighbourhood Policing Team were at the event to get involved and join in the fun.

Neighbourhood Inspector Vicky Quinn said: "We were incredibly proud to be able to support this event, it is a great opportunity for the local community to get involved and our PCSOs were thrilled to be a part of it. It gives them the chance to speak to our local residents in a relaxed friendly environment which we hope encourages them to build trust and confidence so when they need us they do not hesitate to get in contact and speak to us about any issues they may have."
