Police search for man after incident in Clara Vale

Police are appealing for help to locate a man after an incident in Clara Vale, Gateshead.

At 4am this morning, Friday Aug 12, police were called to a report expressing concern for a man in South View.

The man had knocked on a residents door and asked to use his phone. He was allowed into the property where he tried to call a taxi before leaving the house on foot.

The man is described as being white, of stocky build and in his 20s. He had dark short hair and was wearing a white T-shirt, blue tracksuit bottoms and no shoes.

He did not appeared injured to the caller however he had blood on his arms and hands. Officers believe that he may have been involved in some kind of altercation and had fled to the South View area.

Officers attended however the man had left the scene and searches of the area are being carried out to try and find him and make sure he is OK.
