Man assaulted in Bensham

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted in Gateshead.

The incident hapenend between 9pm and 9.30pm yesterday (Saturday, August 27) in the Rawling Road and Faraday Grove area of Bensham.

A 31-year-old man was struck by an implement causing him to suffer a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident - a 45-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and two men aged 34 and 39 on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.
